The Archaeological Project of Erimi Pamboula (APEP) is a research project of the Department of History and Archaeology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). The main act of APEP is the excavation of a prehistoric settlement at the site of Pamboula, at the outskirts of the modern village of Erimi (Limassol district - Cyprus). According to the results of earlier research conducted at Pamboula, the settlement is dated to the Chalcolithic period, namely between 3500 and 3000 BC. The main aim of the project is to gain a deeper understanding of the site's diachronic use as well as of the social groups that inhabited Pamboula. Individual objectives regard the thorough reexamination of spatial organisation and domestic architecture, the production and use of pottery, the use of tools made of stone and other raw materials, the dietary preferences and subsistence strategies, and also the production and use of figurines and various ornaments of picrolite and other raw materials. The research team of APEP includes undergraduate and postgraduate students, post-doctoral fellows from the NKUA and other universities, as well as archaeologists from Greece and Cyprus. The project was granted an official permission by the Department of Antiquities - Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus, signaling the return of the NKUA with an excavation in this area after more than two decades and just a few years after the Neolithic and Chalcolithic Cyprus Project (NCCP).
